I've been in the US for two years now and, while I haven't heard a thing from INS during the past two years, I remain hopeful that I will finally have an interview for my Adjustment of Status! I keep waiting.

I'm still working both at the prison and at the newspaper, and I have started my own home-based business. Sheila says she likes me working three jobs! It's a computer repair and service business called, appropriately enough, Ask Ian. Although it's still in its infancy, I've made a few dollars at it, and its something which I can do in my spare time!

Speaking of spare time, I have none! In addition to holding down three jobs, I'm also working on a Master of Science in Technology Management at Marshall University in Huntington, W.Va. I'll be finished my course work in December, and graduation is on May 5, 2001.

I've applied again for another renewal of both my EAD and Advance Parole, and I hope to get both sometime in June. (NOTE: I did receive another A/P by mail in mid-May, and had to appear at the Louisville INS office in mid-June to get my renewed EAD).

I did manage to get two credit cards - and that was no simple feat. I wrote letters to both Visa and Discover and tried to explain some of the problems that newcomers have when moving to the United States. And, armed with credit cards in hand, Sheila and I bought a new car and I sold mine. It was interesting to see the faces in the dealership as they noted my car had 215,000 on the odometer! Of course, we knew it was in kilometers and not miles, but it was fun to watch anyway! I had no problem trading in my "foreign" car even though all the gauges were metric. We bought a 2000 Grand Am GT - bright red! Very nice!
